The name thelittlesprout came from wanting to grow and build something with our own two hands, to create a memory of a lifetime.
Our vision is to create physical items that encapsulate the love for owners and their beloved pets! We hope to continue to make more sentimental and meaningful items for you and your beloved pets to enjoy!
Here's a collection of all the paw prints I've made at events and from customers! Hope you'll enjoy viewing all of these cute paw prints!
Our Journey
Started off with my first pop-up booth in Dec 2022, as it was approaching Christmas, I thought making Christmas ornaments would be a good idea! Sold 3 ornaments that day, realised what I was doing was pretty niche and the venue wasn't right for me!
My second pop-up in January, I decided to test out my idea of making paw prints as it is unique and holds a sentimental value to the recipient! Honestly was unsure of the outcome and was a little worried…
The paw prints were well received during the two day event and I was fortunate enough to do 13 paw prints! I was really happy at the response I received and decided that pet keepsakes is the direction I would be moving towards!
For my third pop-up event, I prepared my first variation of the DIY Paw Print Kit as I realised many customers do not bring their pet out during the events and had a few request for a take home option! This two day pop-up was a little slow, I only made 1 paw print but I had 7 orders for the DIY kit!
My fourth pop-up I tried including more craft items to see the responses. I added more signage to my set up so passerby could immediately tell what I was selling!
This two day event I made 9 paw prints! I realised I should work towards changing the alphabets to a waterproof and durable type instead of using paper!
Wasn't really earning much from pop-ups so I wanted to be able to sell the paw kit online! Now I just had to design a suitable box... This was the first variation!
This was my first prototype but I was not happy with the drawing and I realised it was too big, not practical and not cost effective especially to custom make the inner layer of the box. I left it on hold and decided to take my time and not rush myself.
This is my 6th pop-up and things I did to improve my products include:
- Investing in a polariod to print pictures of pets and their owners!
- Handmade resin alphabets instead of paper alphabets for extra durability!
- Changed the base to a wooden easel for a more aesthetic base!
- Switched to a better quality clay for a prettier final look! Despite this, in this two day event, I only sold 3 paw prints :')
This is my 7th pop-up! I really like my current set up but sales were not good. I broke a frame after dropping and realised that I needed to change it as it was fragile and may cause harm to pets. Within this 3 day event, I only sold 4 paw prints. On the bright side, someone liked my product and decided to engage me for her company event!
My first corporate event! Realised this was a direction I could go towards, holding workshops and being at private events! They ordered for 20 pax and due to time constraint I managed to contact a carpenter who hand cut all these wood planks for me to build my own shadow box!
The event was so enjoyable yet hectic for me that I didn't have time to take photos! Here are the final results! It was such a great experience and I would definitely want to host workshops and do private/ corporate events in the future!
My 8th and 9th pop up! This is my best set up so far! Things I have improved were:
- Better Signage
- Changing from Ceramic to Wooden Frames so it wouldn't break apart when dropped
- Higher quality shadow boxes
I didn't sell a lot of paw prints here but I made so many friends that I'm so thankful for! This was the period I started to try to make proper content to post on social media!
Back to desigining the box! Second variation. Was wild, I was ambitious and wanted the packaging box to be multipurpose and somewhat look like those barbie doll display boxes. I even wanted the box to have a handle and be magnetic. After a reality check, it's either impossible to make or it would cost a limb. On to the next idea!
This is the third and final variation which works! I just needed a bit more imagination on how I would want to fit everything aesthetically and practically.
Got the design down! Printed it out and taped it onto the box just to get a feel of the box size, colour, font size and whether the QR Code could be scanned! Was very happy about it and can't wait to received the actual product!
Product is here but there are issues:
- Individual boxes are extremely tight when fitted in
- Supplier and I did not account for the width of the flap, hence the box can't close
- The shipment bag I ordered came larger than expected
- Have to hand cut each individual boxes to allow the box to be useable Good experience, I'll definitely know what to look out for on future orders!
Despite everything, I'm proud to be where I am today! I could have never made it without these people's support and help: Chermaine (photographer: @cho_pawtography), Ethan, Brandon, Angeline, Bryan, Amanda, Jean, my parents and others!
